Wouter Spaargaren
After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Business Economics in 2017, Wouter Spaargaren started his career at KPMG Accountants. In addition to further studies in Accounting & Control, he had a varied client portfolio, which provided him with broad-based professional development. At KPMG, Wouter also gained extensive experience in relation to financial statements and various reports. In 2022, Wouter made the move to Bolster.
“Bolster cooperates closely with the managing directors and major shareholders of the various portfolio companies. I come from a family of entrepreneurs. We used to discuss the business at our kitchen table: small matters to do with staff; talking about things when they were going well, or precisely when they weren’t. I’m inspired by Bolster’s entrepreneurial culture, closely involved with the businesses. The culture within Bolster is also entrepreneurial. When I started here, I saw a number of things that I wanted to optimize, and there’s room to do that. Initiative is encouraged. Furthermore, I recently carried out a project in which we went round our companies to talk about sustainability and ESG initiatives. Sustainability now features more explicitly on the agendas of our portfolio companies and an initial sustainability report has been written. This is also a way to make our companies stronger. Ensuring that we communicate properly with the outside world is the key issue for me as controller. No beating around the bush. Saying when things are going well, but also if something is not going so well. My work ensures that we provide correct information. That’s what I stand for.”
