Leeuwendaal grows through acquisition of Hiemstra & De Vries
Leeuwendaal, a consultancy specialising in HR and organisational development within the public sector, has acquired Hiemstra & De Vries. Hiemstra & De Vries will continue to operate under its own name and retain its independent position within the newly formed Leeuwendaal Alliance. This acquisition reinforces Leeuwendaal’s position in a consolidating market.
Consultancies with strong reputations in the public sector
Founded in 2004, Hiemstra & De Vries specialises in transformation programmes and training within the public sector. Based in Utrecht, the firm works with clients facing societal challenges, including ministries, municipalities, and healthcare institutions. Leeuwendaal focuses on improving work and collaboration in the public domain. Since Bolster Investment Partners joined as a long-term investor in 2024, the emphasis on innovation and new partnerships has been further strengthened.
Acquisition enhances service offering and increases appeal
The acquisition is partly driven by increasing complexity and demands within the market. The integration of Hiemstra & De Vries expands the combined service offering, strengthens market positioning, and enhances attractiveness to talent.
Both consultancies adopt a people-centred approach and complement each other in terms of expertise. While Hiemstra & De Vries begins with the challenges organisations face, Leeuwendaal starts with the talent needed to address those challenges. This complementarity makes the collaboration particularly powerful.
“To enable our clients to fulfil their societal missions, consultancies must continuously innovate and deliver even better solutions. That requires scaling up. This step significantly strengthens us, including our position in the labour market.”
Arjen Kuijten, Leeuwendaal
“We are united by a shared culture and a common vision of modern leadership. People are at the heart of everything we do.”
Ralph
Hanekamp, Hiemstra & De Vries
“We believe in the power of complementary collaboration. This acquisition is a promising step towards sustainable growth for both organisations.”
Robbert van Kampen, Bolster Investment Partners
